May want to look at these. Work great and on sale. I won't say cheaper just more cost effective!

In my experience, fade is in the calipers due to heat affecting the pads frictional properties or getting the fluid too hot due to inadequate cooling of the caliper.

Curious, how's your pad wear? To me it looks like these would eat pads for breakfast because of the shape. Hope I'm wrong.

I do not notice extra pad wear. My rotors are slightly different shape, about three years old, and 203mm. I have five different rotors on different bikes, and none of the aggressive designs seem to wear pads more.

It comes down to surface area to me; the more surface that the pads can contact, the better the stopping. I still really like my old Avid Roundagon shaped as the best stoppers, second is the five year old BB5 rotors that look so similar to the Roundagon design, except really round, but they basically have holes in them instead of fancy cut outs.
So cheaper brake disc are fine then? (i too I am considering them) as some discs are a rip off.

Pad wear is normal and no they do not pulse either.

It depends.

Some of the cheaper ones I have seen are quite a bit thinner and / or not as high quality and will warp more easily and not dissipate heat as well. Those are not a good value, IMNSHO.

You will pay more for fancier rotors, since it costs more to machine them. For me, more expensive usually means better quality and more reliable; to you it means rip off - it is all perspective.
