a X-5 lands in Arizona (new bike porn)

Got my new bike last Friday! Not too many Ventanas are seen out here in Arizona, but I think that is going to change soon.

I originally ordered a charcoal xl with a Romic coil but after 6+ weeks without a MTBike I re-considered staying with a Fox air and took what was available. Having seen it built up, I love the blue now!

Quad bearings on the rear make tracking is very stiff and smooth with only minor bob. The frame's headset angle (70 degrees I believe) feels great on uphill sections. It is way to early for me to give a review, but I love this bike. Here are the specs which I continue to work on:

Ventana X-5 (size xl)
Quad bearing upgrade
Fox Float R
Fox Float Talas RL
XT Hollowpoint cranks
XT front and rear
Shimano 959
Thompson seatpost
Titec Ithys seat
Chris King headset
Monkey Lite handlebar
Mavic CrossMax XL
Continental Diesel 2.5 front and rear

Thanks for looking..

I don't see many Ventanas in the San Diego area. I did run into a guy with a Charcoal X5 and it looked nice. I like the blue. That would be my choice. I picked up an angle finder at Harbor Freight for $3. It is easy to use and gives you angles on different setups. Great looking bike!
Congrats

Congrats on your new ride, the bike looks great!

What length stem are you running, it looks really long in the pictures? I see you are running a setback post too. Do you find the XL frame's TT length a bit short for your height?

I hope you enjoy your new ride!
120mm

I brought the 120mm bontrager stem over from the Liquid. Had I another $60 left to my name I would have used a Thompson etc but the length is a good fit for me. My torso is pretty long (6'5" with a 34-35" inseam). The X5 TT is slightly longer than the old bike and with the seat all the way back on the rails there is plenty of room in this cockpit. maybe too much right now, but still dialing it in.

Thanks!

120mm isn't too long, my mistake. It looked longer than that in the pictures. The reason I asked about fit is that I am exactly your size and I am still dialing the cockpit of my El Chamuco. I run a 120mm stem too, but I wish I had another inch to stretch out and I don't want to go longer on the stem length. I am considering a setback post. It could be that I am just not used to the slack headangle and taller front end.

Anyway, your bike is nice! Enjoy building up your bank account again too :D
