I had no plans to buy a new Covert when they came out. Sure, I liked my old one well enough. I rode it all over the place on my favorite trails, I did a lot of fun tech stuff and scary tech stuff, climbed to 10k feet all the time and generally did my best to use the bike the way it was intended. I tweaked it, rebuilt it, put different wheels, forks, stems and tires on it but it was still essentially the same bike.

Last fall I was enjoying my big bike a lot more and I decided I wanted a trail bike that was a bit slacker, a bit more burly. I downbuilt the Covert and it's been hanging in the garage ever since. My new bike was a bit heavier and certainly handled the steep junk a little bit better, but the longer I was away the more I realized I really MISSED my Covert.

The thought of building up that poor frame ONE MORE TIME was a little depressing. I may not have been in love with my new rig, but I certainly preferred a few aspects to my Transition, namely the nice slack head angle, shorter top tube and stiffer construction. Did a little research and whaddya know... I am back on a Covert and it feels like I never left!

Very nice! What was your in-between bike? My god they hit a home run with that green didn't they! I finally got mine all dirtied up and it still looks just as good as it did when it was shiny and newly put together.

Oh here we go... better pic with my dog's head in the frame.

Yeah, it will be interesting to compare the two, although there are enough different parts (namely fork and shock) that it could be difficult to determine what's what.

Green Covert's are Ghey! I don't care if you were flat out rippin on that ride last night. Ugh, now it's going to be even harder for me to keep up. Think I'm going to go buy some lead to put in your tires...
