Well Torito was out in Vegas riding...after being extremely jealous I needed to head out for the first real ride of the year. :D It was a PERFECT day for riding except being a little too wet in some spots. Here's a little rundown of the day before the batteries in the camera died....enjoy.

Again...a perfect day for riding...

Immediately start the long climb up...this is only part of the climb.

Old stone tower...Revolutionary War?

Incredible view of Boston from the bottom of the Tower...

Steve (from Woobin) pondering...

Me...

Just resting...

Some more miscellaneous pics from the day...

Overall a great ride...felt relieved to get out there after literally suffering through one of the worst winters in recent years. Spring is finally here...many more rides to come!

Unwitting poach?

Isn't that a tower in Stoneham part of the DCM parks which are closed until 4/15?
Just put song into Head

Please come to Boston for the springtime! Nice pictures.
Don't miss Beantown winters....Gotta luv the south! though my inlaws never let me forget where i'm from!
Looks like you're riding in the Middlesex Fells (right side of I-93S towards Boston at the Rt 28 rotary)? I generally don't admonish poachers since in my experience poachers generally aren't the type to respect the rules or others in the first place, but since you make it so public...

The Fells are closed for mountain biking until 4/15. Much as you think you're not hurting anyone, it is a sensitive issue and alot of non-riding trail users do get very upset and are VERY vocal when they are upset. I live down the street from the Fells and I do follow the rules, however misguided I may think they are, so I would personally would prefer not to be banned from riding there. PLEASE respect the rules - see http://www.nemba.org/ridingzone/fells.html for the trail riding policy.
hmm...

do the bikes shift ok after laying them down on the drive side??

fells...

thats the fells, starting over by lawrence memorial. beautiful ride...not illegal, at least not until after the opening day, watch out for the green trucks!. Nice climb, fun descend, great trails...
the trail is a mile or two from the davis T stop...fun riding, you can get a little lost, but your never more than a mile or two from roads...fun riding, great stuff.
Don't ride until April 15 or you'll ruin it for the rest of us

Come-on guys. You could have gone to Harold Parker or Vietnam or a bunch of other OPEN places. I live blocks from the Fells and have been dieing to get-in there, but with so many folks wanting biking banned from the Fells, it's just not worth making matters worse. Do you want to keep biking in the Fells? Don't ride till April 15th. As Napolean Dynomite would say: "IDIOTS!"
I poach those trails..

A confession:

I poach those trails sometimes in the winter. Usually on a Tuesday night around 10:30pm when its -10 degrees out. Tire never leaves a treadmark, never bumped into another person. Might be wrong, but its not like when its 50 degrees out, sunny, a foot deep of mud, a week before open season, and tightly wound hikers looking for law breakers on bikes...
It's a shame that they are so strict with the rules there...wasn't really aware of it seems that the place was absolutely mobbed this weekend with hikers, bikers....and from the piles of crap everwhere...horseback riders.

It obviously wasn't my intention to advertise that fact or that I was breaking rules so my apologies...after the fact, though. Sorry guys...
They'll be open this Friday...

If you don't mind the road trip, Otis or Trail of Tears in the Cape are open in the winter and drain really well.. Great places for early spring rides..

Word-up. At least you didn't do it on purpose... and yes, there were a ton of bikers out there this weekend, which is why i'm so fired-up about it... I bought a house close to the Fells just so i could have a backyard mtbike loop (and be close to the city) - the last thing i (or anyone else) wants is more restrictions on when we can ride, eh?

Stay cool brutha.
nice pics...love the terrain
