My XT cassette has worn out and i need a new one. I was looking at a shimano Dura-ace 12-23 and taking off the 22 and 32 chainrings on my XT crank and using a 26t ring with 44t. Would that work? Would it be too big a jump at the front?

So it would be 2x9 with Dura-ace cassette 12-23 with XT crank 26/44.

Is that possible? Would 26/42 be better? Using shimano XT rings. Any other alternatives other than buying a 2x9 chainset?

My XT cassette is 11-32 and i never use the small chainring on my XT 22/32/44 crank.

Thanks for any help

Actually don't think that would work.

How about replacing my 32t middle chainring with an Extralight 30t and having shimano ultegra 12-27 cassette and maybe ditching the granny ring?

Then i would have an XT crank 30/44 with a 12-27 cassette.

Would 30t middle, 27 rear be similar to 32 middle, 32 rear?
