I have heard all this talk about the 888 being to tall and I was wondering if anyone has dropped the lower crown passed the min mark to help steepen the head angle.
Has anyone tried this and if so how low can it really go i.e. taking the top cap of and testing it till it touches the tire?? Just wondering because im buying one this weekend (I think)

I keep seeing good value second hand Dorados for sale and im torn between the two! I think my hart says Marzocchi???

do not do that!!! that line is where it will bottom out. bad idea. metal on metal is not good. if you dont like the height you can buy some lowrider crowns from go-ride.com

Some times my curiosity gets the better of me! Do you have any 888's?
I just put 888's on my Big Hit and they feel great. They do slacken out the head angle of the bike, however after riding on the fork for a couple of days, I can bomb down fast sections much faster than my 04 Jnr T, so I am happy. Drops were a little weird to get used to, since the head angle is a little slacker on the bike, turning is not as forgiving....however once again...something that I am just getting used to.
I reallly love the fork. It feels great...maybe in time I might get the low-rider crown, however right now its not necessary.
