Who has done it? What all does one need to make their 04' 888RC from 8" to 7"?

i could be wrong, and i probably am, but i think that they are 2 different forks, and you cant make an 8 inch 888 into a 7 inch 888. sry if im mistaken.

i think you can convert it to 7 with the use of spacers. i might be wrong.

My educated guess says because they are cartridge forks you will need to replace the 8" cartridges w/ 7's. Cartridges themselves are probably $150 each.

I wouldn't go through the hassle. I'd sell the it and find an '05 or '06 170mm. I have an '05 170 in almost flawless condition with fresh oil I'll sell ya for $500.00. PM if you're interested.

Shaheeb, I believe you just need to change the spacers around inside to drop it to 7"....at least that's what you can do with the '05 66 and that year's triple eight basically had the same internals.

I belive that the '06's can't change travel, but I think you have an '05, correct?

It helped me take my 66RC from 6" to 7". They have a lost of info regarding that matter.

Oh yeah, let me share this as well. If applicable - how to do with Pictorial 66RC. I believe that if yours is a 2005 instead of the 04 you state this may help as the guts for the 66 and the 888 are similar if not the same. A friend of mine wanted to swap his 8" to 7", and he managed to find someone that wanted to go the opposite so they just traded cartridges.
