Ok, it's obvious that the spacing on 8 and 9 speed cogs are different. Are the acutal cogs any thinner on 9 spd vs 8 spd.
I'm curious because I'm contemplating a switch to SRAM. The 1:1 actuation ratio combined with the integrated pully (eliminating the rear cable loop) is supposed to pick up for all the slop thats notorious in Shimano 9 spd equipment.
However, I am a bender of rear cassettes. If 9 speed is thinner, I don't want anything to do with it.
Can someone definitely answer this question??? Are the 8 and 9 speed cogs essentially interchangeable using different spacers ?????
