Dumb question I know - but what is the difference between them? Is there any? Also, I've just been checking out importing a 6pack into the UK - does a 4% frame charge sound about right for a frame charge? There charging over £1500 in the Uk and good second hand ones arent easy to find. I've got about 3 weeks to get hold of a frame and I'm starting to panic now because I cant find any that I like, idealy I'd like a 6pack but have been thinking of a Heckler( I know totally diff bikes!), any idea's? help!!!:madman:

heres the deal. the rfx is a old model started as a 5" overbuilt, unbreakable freeride rig 1st offered in '98 and discontinued after '02 when it became a 6" bike. some history. the pack took over in '04 and was rebranded the rfx in '06. its a lighter yet not as burley version of the classic rfx.

big diffs will be weight, about 1lb less for the new frame, and geo is quite diff as well as the newer frames long term-do stupid-i mean really stupid stuff-durability. much heavyer guage tubeset used in the old version ya see. check out this and this for even more crap on the old bike and see turners site for info on the new one.

no idea what to tell ya on import costs but im sure theres a few that can help. hang tight, theyre commin.

Your new bike will cost you $1950 Retail, shipping will be between $120 and $200 when it lands in the UK you will then have to pay 17.5% vat on the goods value and that includes the shipping charges, and 4% import duty on the frame plus a handling charge of between £12 and £16

$1950 +$200(worst case) =$2150+tax = $2526.26

Duty on the frame 4% of $1950 = $78

Handling charge = £16

Total $2604.25 converted to [email protected] = £1415+16

Grand total £1431

Not that cheap is it?

Now what you have to do is talk to Larry at http://www.mtnhighcyclery.com

And all those worst case figures will dissapear into an affordable rate.

You can have goods confiscated for dodging duty too, one guy on Singletrack had a new 5.5 frame for sale to cover the costs he incurred from customs even though no value was listed on the shipping forms. Also consider that in the every unlikely event of a warranty claim you will have to ship back to the states at your own cost and Mojo will not carry out warranty work on any Fox shocks or forks bought outside of the UK either...

BTW what size frame where you looking for in the UK?

They have for me, with no problems, and to send back the frame is a few hundred dollars agreed but it is worth the low risk.

Thanks for the help - I couldnt figure out what the differences where because their identical (almost)! Checked out 1 store in the USA = worked out as £1100 for an ano frame which is alot better than the UK price, but I'm paranoid about getting stung with a bill this side - knowing my luck I'd get caught too!
I'm after a 16" frame.........but I've only seen one good one so far, I'm hoping to go to Scotland in about 6 weeks so I need something soon to build and get use to it. I think I'll the Heckler a miss as it looks like they maybe leaving them off the line up for 07 which means I'd probably have fun to find parts in the future!

Thanks agin - I'll keep you posted if / when Im sorted........hopefully soon!

I'm suprised at that because they won't touch oem forks without the sales receipt, or did you get a friendly LBS to send the shock in for you? Whenever I've contacted them for warranty work they either want a copy of the reciept or require it sent in through the shop that sold the item in the 1st place.

As you say it's low risk but I paid less for my UK supplied Pack than your calculated import price :D

You are right you need a sales receipt which was scanned and 'E' mailed to the chaps who have had shock problems they then printed them off and gave them to Mojo and they did the work no questions asked.
The costing I gave was a by the book price, everything paid to all parties at the full retail, no risk of problems with customs as an example.

I have PM'ed clanger the alternative route.

Hi Prof,

I think the problem for Clanger now is time with only 3 weeks he will most likely need somewhere with stock able to ship quickly, unless Turner have 16" frames in stock.
When I bought my own I got lucky and got one of the last 16" stock frames from Turner the next batch was at least 3 months away at the time and Roundel managed to get it added at the last minute to a shipment. :)

That's pretty surprising since it's a huge seller.

I've got a 97, but never liked the falling rate linkage of the newer ones. I've got friends that love them though.
