Hi guys,
going to pick some of these up for running under DH pants - im 16.5 upper and 14 lower which is making me think large...

Do they tend to fit on the tight or loose side of their sizing chart? Do they stretch at all with use? - jsut wondering whether mediums will loosen off nice or large will slacken off with use...

cheers

My upper is 16 and I wear the Large. The Med was too tight for me.
They have been coming on Chainlove.com lately. They only have M and L though.

I would've gotten a small, but they didn't have any. They came today and while they do fit, I can imagine them slipping if I fall and slide around a bit. Not sure if that how the pads are, or if they're too big.

That being said, they're like $29 on Chainlove. I'm gonna make these Mediums work.. somehow.

I have 2 rides on my Large Patriots.
My upper is 17.5" and lower is 15"
I'm thinking you would need Medium since they appear that they will stretch with use.
Large may move too much.
They stretch by at least one size. I wouldn't wear them if you use flat pedals with pins, as they will get torn up.

uhm, how often to you slam your knees into your pedals? Shins yes, but knees...? (and even shins, I have the Lizard Skin shinguard made out of neoprene with a hard plastic insert...they have seen a lot of pedal pin action and have yet to develop any major tear in the tissue...)

OP: they stretch quite a bit. I never measured myself, but I'm a pretty big guy and I went with mediums...was a tight fit for a couple of rides, but they stretched nicely and have been doing good ever since going on 2 years now (although their time has most definetely come...they are starting to fall apart ...). I prefer to be sure that they won't move around too much just when you need them. BTW I still pedal up for many of my DH runs, and I never remove them.

Try a pair somewhere if you can - if they feel tight but still manageable when new, they will be great after a couple of rides. If they cut off all the blood supply to your lower leg, then go a size up... :)

It's not the knee area but the sides, where the fabric tends to be weak. Sometimes its from pedaling. Could be the terrain (Mammoth) I was using it for. After several days it got thrashed. No such problems when I was clipped in.
many thanks gone for large

Just washed mine for the first time and they shrunk back down to the original size! They feel great again. I wear mediums can't remember my leg sizing though.
