Anyone know this?
Last time I checked the new 66 has a lower axle to crown than the Z-1 .5$Milkshake said:Anyone know this?
You might want to double check your #'sgurp said:Nope, same. A 6" 66 SL has the same a-c as a Z1. Unfortunately there are no 6" 66 Light or 66 RC2Xs available in the US as far as I know (I want one though).

How will the 66 Light with 170mm of travel compare in axle/crown height when both are fully extended or unloaded (I am assuming the sag will be about the same for both)? From what I have heard it sounds like I can gain 20mm of travel with the 66 Light and change my basic geometry very little.
Thanks Krispy[email protected] said:While descending the sag may feel similar but when on flat ground the taller fork will feel taller. When climbing the 170 would feel a lot taller because you will lose your sag but the Light has ETA so it will still climb well.
Sounds like a good choice, but it is about 2lbs heavier and i don't like bikes with more travel in the front than the rear.If you have a 7" bike go for it. If you have a 6" bike it will suddenly make the bike feel a lot heavier and slower-if you climb.
I don't say that as a challenge, as I don't have the weights on anything but the 66SL, but I didn't realize that the 66 Light was that much heavier than the 5.7lb. SL. I thought the weight on the Z1FR1 was about 5.3lbs. I just didn't realize that there would be that much difference between the 66SL and the 66 Light. Does anyone have the exact numbers?[email protected] said:While descending the sag may feel similar but when on flat ground the taller fork will feel taller. When climbing the 170 would feel a lot taller because you will lose your sag but the Light has ETA so it will still climb well.

Marz says the 66Light ETA is 5.9lbs without steerer, 6.54lbs with. They've been pretty close the last few years with their weights. So that's basically a pound heavier than a Z1.TNC said:I don't say that as a challenge, as I don't have the weights on anything but the 66SL, but I didn't realize that the 66 Light was that much heavier than the 5.7lb. I noticed they're almost always out from Christmas until after the first. Please check out that weight when you get it.Jayem said:Marz says the 66Light ETA is 5.9lbs without steerer, 6.54lbs with. I may be getting one tomorrow (depending on if there was anyone home last week when I sent in my order form), other wise it will take a while. I'll try to remember to weigh it.
Actually a 6" 66 has a 535mm a-c while a 6" Z1 has a 538mm a-c.Evil4bc said:You might want to double check your #'s
The new 66 has a 10mm lower axle to crown than the current Z-1's
I have a few differnt models here set with various amounts of travel
my 66vf2 set at 90mm has a 490mm axle to crown height
my z-1 set at 65mm has a 475mm axle to crown .
You do the math that's 10mm of differnce , this comes from the lower axle placement on the new 66 lower's
