5th Element Spider set up?

778 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  p0Ke'[email protected]
I need some assistance with 5th Element settings on a Spider. I know the 5th is so supposed to be firm but I think mine is set up too firm. Can someone tell me a good starting point for set up, I weigh about 175lbs.

I'm running 100 in the IFP, and about 120 in the spring. I weigh 180.

Ole.

On the thread below under "teambender". There is a great link to a site to set up your sag and pressures for the IFP and main air chamber once you know the shock's measured bolt-to-bolt length. I ride a Blur, with I think would be "similar" to the Spider's ride. Weigh 175 lb. with gear, and run 65 psi in the IFP and 115 psi in the main. You can actually run about 50-60 psi in the IFP and not bottom out the shock (unless your wt. is >about 190 lb). The main chamber pressure for the sag is important for the VPP suspension to work well. The lower pressures I listed give a more plush trail ride, but you might go to higher pressures for racing....a "tighter" feel.
