50/50 xx pedal problem?????

hope this forum can help - just installed a new set of 5050xx on my single speed thursday and took the bike out for the first ride today.....

30seconds in the right pedal falls off and it turns out the nut holding the pedal on got stripped.... not my biggest problem..... going to get a new nut at homedepot and whatevr....

heres my question.... before i went riding i saw a bit of grease coming out of the crank side.... both pedals.....

just wanted to know if this is normal.... i cant seem to tighten the nut anymore.... and the seals seem places ......

and google has no answer and the forum doesnt seem to have been asked this question before... although everyone seems to think the pedals suckk....
