I have been having an overheating/brake fade problem with my rear Grimeca system 11's. The fluid reccomendation is for DOT 3 or DOT 4. Is it OK to use 5.1 fluid? Help??? Also any help with stopping the brake fade issue would be much appreciated........

Santana recomends 5.1 in the Formula disc brakes they use.
I am not sold on this however.

Use 4 ( fresh can ) and you should be good.
I have never felt a difference between 5.1 and 4 in my race car days, where we cooked the brakes every weekend, lost them a couple times and nursed them back to finish the race.

ps. what I am saying is that it might not hurt either, as Formula uses the same brakes usually with dot 4.

pick up some Valvoline SynPower DOT4 from kragen/pepboys for like $4 a bottle, and throw it away after your done with the bleed, openned brake fluid bottles are no good after the first use.

i use synpower in my car and also cannot tell the difference between dot 4 and 5, even at the track. this is the best synthitic brake fluid for the price.
