40 Days/40 Nights

I kind of liked it when we had the drought the last few years. Never had to wash my bike or cut grass after June. The kayakers have to be loving it this year.

I have seen plenty of trip reports from boaters that say otherwise. The Green has to be running everyday as well. Didn't the airport get over 15" of rain in May alone?

I don't mind it that much. You have to be more selective with trail choice but the rhodo and laurel bloom has been amazing this year.

Green is dam released (rain helps this)... local creeks are better than last year, but you have to catch'em super quick...overall water levels are low for an average, you can still have a good time, but I wouldn't say it is a boater's summer yet.

You hit on a topic I am interested in!! Do you have any idea on average when the flow hits upper and lower green on Saturdays? Also, does the flow normally last into the evening?

Looking to canoe the green for the first time this Saturday afternoon. Narrows here we come (that's a joke of course)

I have the number of course but I am not too familiar.

Nevermind, I found the flows page and it is pretty obvious.

The local mountain lakes are back up to full pond, which is good. Went kayaking on Lake Jocelyne a week ago and it was nice to see water in that again(it was down 20').

I'm serious about us running the Narrows so stop those unfunny jokes! I even went out there this afternoon to scout it out and it doesn't look all that tough. My only concern is the width of your canoe. Some of the shoots are rather, well, narrow and I'm not sure a canoe will fit. Worst that could happen is we get wedged in.

The standard French Broad slow float from Sandy Bottom to Hominy could probably be done in under an two hours right now. Its very high and moving fast - a whole new set of patterns to navigate. Watch for some fun "new" drops. The construction up river has made it muddy and hard to read. Be careful getting out along the banks, as the geese have taken over.

No - the worst that can happen is that you could die. At least if you are talking about the Green Narrows. They have had one death and many close calls there over the past 10 years.
