I don't expect to be able to preride the course and am wondering if the climbs are steep enough to warrant gearing down to 34x21. For me, 34x19 is plenty low for almost all of the local Santa Cruz/South Bay trails

The race was the 1 1/2 weeks ago. Anyway--be happy you did not make it--as the poison oak was everywhere.
