people are interested in XTR hubs. Shimano makes great shifters, drivetrain, etc but not hubs. Their wheelset (with the same hub) is also weak but light but at least its a wheelset so some people do buy it. But rarely hub alone as their are no match in the high end hub competition such as Chris King, DT or even Hope.

Some people break their freehubs, I hear. I have a super set of 770's, just want to shed 100 grams. Hope and Kings ARE SO LOUD TO THE POINT OF DISTRACTION!!!!!!!!!! Would love a set of 240's, but they are twice/ or darn close/the price of XTR's.
I believe that XTR hubs are an excellent value compared to other high end hubs. Hope's also weight allot more. I think the Center Lock is an elegant solution...............................

I don't care how shiny hubs are. I care about how long they last. There is service needed with XTR hubs because there is nothing that can be serviced. That is what I don't like about them. Just personal preference...but what I am saying is XTR is not at the high end hub.
XT are great value but XTR hubs never got popular due to its price and construction put together
