I have a 2015 v3 flux with a 2x10. I want to swit h over to a 1x11 or 1x12 if possible. I can do the work, just need help in figuring out exact items needed. Ex: whi h rear deraileur, medium or long cage, which cassette, crank and chainring. I currently run full xt. Thanks.

You'll need the 11 or 12 speed shifter, the 11 or 12 speed cassette, and if you stay Shimano - any 11/12 speed derailleur since they all have the same pull ratio. Note, I wouldn't get a 11 speed derailleur if you're going to go 11 speed. However you're fine with a 12 speed derailleur if you go 11 speed. (I'm not familiar with the pull ratios of SRAM shifters/derailleurs so you'll need someone else to chime in if you want to go that route)
If you keep the original crankset, you'll need a set of single chain ring bolts to convert it to a 1x.
I currently have an XT 2x10 crankset and plan on staying with shimano. I assume I would also need a new single chainring for the front.
You'll want a narrow wide chainring to eliminate dropped chains.

Aloha.

Before going through all the trouble, what is your motivation to switching to a 1x11 or 1x12 setup?

If it is range, you'll want to do some math before switching. Your 2x10 set up gives you a certain range and if you are wanting to keep that range, you will need to consider that.

All 1x setups have a compromise on one end or the other based on the cassette and which size chainring you use. Though with the new E13 and SRAM and Shimano 12 spd cassettes, you're in much better shape than before.

That believe it or not, I still run my Flux V3 with a 2x11 setup that has more range than any 1x setup could ever give me. My chain rings are 29/20 (with old school Race Face Forged crank set) and a 9-44 11 spd setup. People tell me they can walk faster than I can ride up some of those ultra steep hills. But I love the challenge of saying I've climbed it and not have to walk it.

I do have other bikes that run 1x11 and 1x12. They are all sleighted more towards climbing and less on the high end side (spin out around 22-23 mph). Especially on LONG, epic rides, I want to be able to climb and high speed isn't as much of a priority. That's just me.

Get the wide range Deore 11speed cassette 11x51 then use a 12sp rear derailleur. That's what I did with my Flux
