29er Choice

I looking at 3 different 29ers. I am some what limited by the brands my shop carries, I work for them so I am obviously going to stay in house. Fortunately we carry a number of brands. Anyway, here are the three I am looking at: Salsa Mamasita, Gary Fisher Paragon, and an Orbea Lanza Comp. From everything I have read the Salsa is the winner but I am tring to justify the extra cash for it. I live in central Illinois and ride some in Misouri and Indiana. I hoping to use this a racing bike as well as a general trail ridding bike. This will be my first 29er, I have owned a number of 26" bikes and have raced and ridden for about 10 years. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you've ridden all of them?
Only the Orbea Lanza Comp. The other two will have to be ordered and if I choose to order then I will be buying that one. I like the ride on the Lanza but the one we had in stock might be a bit small for me. It's a 18" and I am 6'2", it felt pretty good but I had to raise the seat post a little more than I would like. Also I am a Shimano fan, I haven't ridden SRAM much other than test rides. That's probably one of the more appealing things to me about the Salsa that it has an XT drive train.
don't be afraid of sram drivetrains......some of us prefer them!

well, dumb question....can you ride the other two at other shops?

my opinion: salsa. they're just.....right.
I would have to go to Peoria or St Louis to find them I would Imagine. We are the only GF and Salsa dealer between here and there. The Salsa is definately how I am leaning it's just going to be 500.00 or 600.00 more than the Gary Fisher. Not sure if it is that much better......
The Salsa mamasita is a very Kick a$$ bike, what about the dos niner?
the fisher has a nice geometry in combination with the G2 Fox fork. i am as well 6'2" and ride a large Superfly. Fits perfectly, excellent slow speed handling but still very stable on the downhills. The paragon should ride much like the Superfly just a little heavier.
The Dos Niner is a touch out of my price range. I really like the color of the Mamasita as well as compared to the Dos Niner and the Gary Fisher Paragon as well.
Hellocook, I absolutely love the Superfly..........sick bike. Thanks for the sizing input. I really like the tubeless ready wheelset and the fork on the Paragon.

Misread the price on the Dos Niner it's the same as the Mamasita. Interesting option, I will have to look into it.
