My brake kits shipped yesterday and I found my Lev Integra dropper at QBP, so I should have it ready to ride this weekend, all murdered out! I'll bet my bike will be the first Following with the new Guide Ultimate brakes.

Question:

Since I'm looking to replace my Pike RCT3 140mm 46mm offset.
The Usual suspect would be a 2016 Pike RCT3 140mm 51mm offset.
But what about the new 2016 Fox 34 at 140mm 51mm offset?
I had a Pike aside for my build, after some early ride reports on the new 34s I sold the Pikes and am awaiting delivery of Fox. For me the feedback of my LBS owner sealed the deal. He swapped his Pikes for the new 34s and has been raving about them.

seems like a step backwards in stiffness, unless you're pretty light... or the 34 has been improved in that regard. I would be comparing to the Fox 36, at my weight. The rest of the frame is said to be really stiff....

Supposedly improved over previous 34s. Difference v Pikes seems negligible from what I've read. But I guess if you're a big rider then every little helps.

Also worth considering the new 36 Fit4 if you can get it, better price than the RC2 36. Sadly the 29er model is not available in the UK though

I hear they are about as good as each other, (pikes and new 34s) but the new 34s weigh less.
Thats not such a bad thing though as the weight is in the front of the following. Even it up a bit.

I like the sound of the better mid stroke support that the Fox offers, supposedly. Otherwise I'm sure both are awesome, but there's something to be said for having the newest and shiniest stuff in the shape of '16 Fox!

You guys didn't even mention the MRP Stage. I'm running a 140 on my Following and it's shorter A2C than the Fox 34, 36 and Pike! I've read that some claim the Stage is heavier but that's just not true. I weighed them both out of the box, the Stage is 2010 grams and the Pike I just rec'd today is 1990 so there's not even an ounce of difference in weight between them. The stage is stiffer and is just as buttery smooth but it has external ramp control and a better damper.
I sold my Pike 140 I bought last year to a buddy who bought my new Spider Comp frame and I needed to replace my fork on my Spider 29 AL so I bought another Pike but a 150/ 51 OS. So pulled it out of the box stripped off the stickers and weighed it.
You're probably wondering why I bought another Pike but I have aquired a bunch of parts for the Pike, I have air shafts for 120-150 now so I can adjust the travel to suit whatever I want 29r or 27.5+.

What he said...

Everybody bangs on about Pikes this, Fox that, but honestly if you're prepared to take a bit of a risk, there's other choices out there more than worthy of consideration when you consider their performance, reliability, weight, stifness etc.

Oh, and the MRP Stage stickers are Orange just like the new Fox too! ;)

Oh yeah, oops! I took the upper stickers off mine just left the lowers but there's a wee bit of orange on them. My bikes getting the murdered out treatment. The only thing I can't pull stickers offs the Chromag BZA bars so at least I have a little flash of color and the bar and stem especially are works of art and badass!

Agreed! Love my Stage fork! I'm coming off a PIKE and I would argue it's a little more buttery than a Pike once broken in. Totally satisfied and in awe after every ride by it's performance. Love the adjustability and ramp control including being able to adjust the fork travel easily with tokens. It's super stiff to boot. Great fork!
