Following the old and proven 29' wheelsize standard, the new 29.5' wheels provide all the benefits of 29ers with even bigger tires and better damping. 29.5' bicycles must have at least 750 mm of wheel diameter! 29.5' bikes became popular in Germany and Europe since the end of last year. Probably 29.5' bikes will succeed and eliminate 29ers soon, as everybody can see the advantages of bigger wheels.

Very funny, john. A KM with Big Apple 28x2.35 tires. Surly displayed that setup at interbike 3 years ago. By my measurements they are "only" 746mm tall so are too small for your "new" standard.

I do not understand everything you wrote, guys, but I am very happy about your nice and friendly comments and I can tell you, that I like it as much as you do. :thumbsup: Thank you! It's allways nice to see other peoples like your work, style and ideas.

The 746 mm: Those tires are 752 mm tall, I guess Schwalbe made them bigger to fit the new standard, but I'm not sure.

The "grips": As soon as I can get some brow suede grips or bike ribbon (matching the saddle color), I will mount them.

I`m riding my 29er now for quite some time, recently changed the tires to 2.35 Exiwolfs...but I still was not happy with the look of the bike....

Now I know what`s wrong... I`ll change everything to look the same like your KM, I even will have the disc tabs removed to mount the neon-coloured Magura...

May I use the same cable rounting or is that patent pending ?

I guess I should use a dropbar.
I'm not quite sure about the stem length, some further testing will prove the right size. As I do not use a flipflop stem, I can't mount brakelevers and ribbon before.

What wheels size are they? standard is 622mm older wheels 630 called 27" whereas 635mm is called old 28" and obsolete 640mm. So you would have to revive standard and coax mainstream producers already releuctant to release new "apparel" for 29", into manufacturing even more niche-like market. The compromise would be to build forks, frames for 29" slightly roomier for 8-13mm larger wheel.
