I have a SS with a 2-to-1 gearing (34-17). I find it a nice balance of being fast enough but also low enough to get through the technical stuff. I’m getting a 29er but I’m not sure about the gearings. I want to keep the same 2-to-1 ratio, but I’m confused about the 26 vs. 29 differences in wheel size. I think I should run a 34-20, but I’m not sure. Any help/suggestions??

There are several combinations you could run on a 29 that are nearly the same as a 26 at 2:1. Any of these will work:

30:17
32:18
34:19
36:20
