Oregon MTB 24 HR Bike Race - 24hr Endurance Moutain Bike Race in Bend, Oregon

Has anyone here done this race before?
I've been to Bend once on a trip last year and rode parts of this course among many other trails but I couldn't recall exactly what it looks like from memory. I know in that area you could make a really cool 10-14 loop but from the looks of the map it seems like half the course is boring fire road.

Its hard to do a solo 24hr if the route gets boring so would you say this course is worth it or should I just blow off the event and save my legs for the high cascade 100 the following week. I'm coming from CA so it's not like I can go check out the course before hand.

it does use a lot of the fire roads... from looking at the high cascades 100, it looks like it would be an awesome, and hard 100 miles.

I've done this race twice. Yes - it used first roads for a good portion - less last year than a couple years ago. Maybe 3 miles of the 10 mile loop is fire roads.

Some of the roads last year were dirt roads that get almost no vehicle use - so they were a little more like riding on trails, but they were dry/sandy/dusty.

I would definitely do the HC 100 instead if you had to choose.
