Hi! I have a wee problem with brake adaptor.
On front I have TRP slate t4 brake and Fox rhythm 34 fork.
Ran it with 180mm slx disc and Shimano +20mm adaptor. Worked fine.
Now wanted a little more power so switched to 203mm XT ice tech disc and shimano 203mm sm-ma-f203 p/p adaptor.
And it doesn't fit. Caliper hits the disc at it's lower point. Putting 1.5mm washer under the lower mounting point solves it.
Tektro sells it's own adapter, but it looks basically the same, only bit more curvy.
So anyone have info on this?
Are the adaptors really different?
Hoping to get knowledge, not something like "In my opinion" or "I think that..."

Yep. Part that reads up is up. 👍 Caliper wouldn't fit there at all If it was wrong way.

Post pictures, it's easier to diagnose.
Does the frame and fork have the same size Post mount? What I mean is, without adapters does the frame and fork accept the same rotor size?

You should not need to put spacers below the caliper to fit on the adapter, if you have to do this, there is obviously a compatibility problem with the caliper and the adapter.

I think some newer forks are designed for a minimum of 180mm rotors so I think there are two different 203 adapters

Adapters between brands don't always work with another brand brake. Doesn't hurt anything to put a washer in to make things work.

Well this fork is 160mm minimum and the shimano adapter is specifically intended for 160 to 203. So there should be no broblem.

Why have you used a spacer?

The caliper looks like it will fit on that adapter without the spacer.

I reread it and I see what you're saying.

When I first read it and you were talking about the curvy part of the TRP/Tektro adapter, I was thinking the flat section of the Shimano adapter wouldn't let you attach the TRP caliper without extra spacing.
