According to Trek website the 2022 Top Fuel 8 weights 14.26 lbs, which is almost 1 lb heavier than the 2022 Fuel EX 8.
Top fuel bikes were always lighter than their Fuel EX big brothers.
Is it a mistake?

Trek’s bike getting heavier. The aluminum models now have frame storage which adds weight. So yes it’s true. 2023 model EX is back to being heavier The Top Fuel models.

Don’t you mean kilograms for that number?

Trek site weight have always been off. Even the “actual” shown by YouTube people vary. James the bike guy has the 2022 Fuel EX 8 as 30.56 lbs and Guy says but does Not show it is 31.8 lbs. both large. The former has 2.5 inch XR5 tires. The later has 2.6 inch XR something tires. I thick XR4.

Another thing with the supply chain issues the EX 8 has Techtro brakes. I’m looking at one since it’s basically a 22 Top Fuel without the storage box and a little more suspension. A Top Fuel 9.7 I’m looking at has the SRAM mineral oil brakes.

So weight appear to be a moving target.

I went with a Fuel EX 8 Gen 5. Liked the color and price. Weighed at the shop and was 31.5 pounds and large. It has the 2.6 inch XR4 tires and Tektro brakes. So about the same with more travel than a Top Fuel. Tires and wheels will shave important weight in the future. To me felt the same as the Top Fuel.

That’s crazy. My 2022 Top Fuel 9.7 which is carbon weighs the same with pedals. About 31.3lbs. Without pedals 29 something.

It’s without pedals so your carbon is still lighter. And you have internal storage.

I’ll just ride barefoot and stick my toes in the threaded holes for the pedals.
