Hi folks.
I am waiting patiently for my 2022 Instinct C70 to arrive Down Under (March is the due date) but was wondering if any of those who already have the C70 have looked to lighten them up a bit? I realise (well, I know!) I could lose a few pounds myself, but was curious as to if/why some folks may have gone down the lightweight route with this do-it-all rig? For me, it'll be used for a mix of XC/trail (blue/green) but also some gnarlier Blacks and enduro trails intermittently.

A lot of money at $7250 US to be adding more with upgrades. Maybe a build would be better overall.
I'd prefer a Manitou Mezzer fork and Mara Pro shock. A BTLOS carbon wheelset to start.
Yep, a build was my preferred option but we're not getting the frame-only option here in Australia any time soon, unfortunately. And yes, totally agree it's lot of money to then want to tweak it. The wheel set will probably be the one thing I look at initially and then see how it goes. Thanks!

You could start by putting some faster rolling tyres on it (maybe a Dissector/Rekon combo?), and potentially a lighter wheelset. Anything else would be marginal gains.
If it were me, I'd buy the C50 instead. I'd rather have the GRIP damper vs the FIT4 on the C70. I think it's around $2K AUD difference? That will get you a nice wheelset/XT cassette, and you'll have extra left over to upgrade to a GRIP2 damper later if you feel the need.

Good point on the GRIP vs FIT4 - I hadn't realised that (must have been daydreaming reading the specs?!) and yep, I reckon the wheel set and tyres will be the most notable difference for sure. Cheers

Along those lines you might go with the C30 with the Marzocchi(Fox owns them) Z2 fork. That's where the Grip damper came from. You won't need a fork and the extra money can get a really good second wheelset.
These with black Berd spokes and I9 Hydra hubs would be $2266.50 US. Maybe ask for $200 off for a Black Friday sale price.

This is the route I went with and honestly would've preferred the C30 with the RS suspension but have had much better luck with the GRIP than I did with the GRIP2 on my previous bike. OP any updates on your bike/build yet? When I located a 21 C50 I put a set of Roval Control Carbon wheels, 1440 grams and $1,350, and also picked up a set of the tan wall Butcher/Eliminator combo for outside of winter riding here.
