2022 Float X Rebound Adjuster on top of shock???

Rebound adjuster location doesn't make any sense to me on a monotube shock. I've looked around but can't find any drawings, cutaways or flow diagrams. Trying to learn how suspension works and this one is confusing me. Does the dial control back flow from the reservoir?

Why couldn't it be working similar to rebound on an inline shock like a DPS?

Yes that make sense thanks.
It’s more like a dpx2 or Rockshox monarch plus, compression flow is up the centre of the shaft, then on rebound the oil in the rebound chamber goes through the outer channel in to the eyelet, through the adjuster and then back out the centre tube

Ok thanks. More fundamentally I didn't understand that the damper rod is connected to the top/reservoir end on many air shocks.
