2021 Slash, 2022 Fuel EX

I want to get a new bike, and right now I'm pretty sure that it will be a Trek. I'm leaning more towards a Slash 7, but possibly could change to a Fuel EX 7. According to their site I've found a place with a Fuel in stock, but I have not found anywhere around with a Slash 7 in stock. What I'm wondering is, since the Fuel EX is listed as a 2022 and the Slash is 2021, are the Slash models set to update to 2022 soon as well? Is this why they're harder to find in stock (I mean, besides the normal shortage of everything).

I briefly had a 2022 Slash on order at a Trek store before finding a 2021 in stock and was told it would be the same. I HIGHLY recommend spending the little more for the Slash 8. You get the higher end suspension.

A few days after posting, I went to Trek's site and they now have the 2022 Slash on there. I am not thrilled with the new colors. I really wanted that teal 2021 one. Considering the 2021 shows not available any where and the 2022s are now showing on the site I feel like I'll be SOL. And I've looked at all kinds of other brands and nothing else appeals to me visually. I may just hold off for a while...or not get anything.

I can't go up to the Slash 8. The $3700 of the 2021 is already way stretching it. Now the 2022 is showing $3800. I can't go up in the $4000 range. I mean I could but I don't want to.

I’d wait a few months, and save for the Slash 8 or the EX8. The “8” models seem to be the sweet spot in their lineup in terms of performance & value. A lot cheaper in the long run.

Is there any advantage to the slash over the fuel ex for general trail riding Or is the slash more suited for enduro?
The Slash is mainly Enduro. I want one to take to the downhill park. If I was only riding trails I'd grab the Fuel EX in a second.
Today, I finally got to test ride a Slash 8. It was my first time on a long travel bike, and I really wanted to see what it was like. One thing that was settled for me was that I could definitely ride this bike around for any use. People kept talking about it not climbing well kind of scared me off a little. I didn't know what to expect just riding around. I didn't feel like it really felt any different than my 100mm bike. Now, I will say this...when I stood up to pedal I felt the bounciness. Could have been how the fork was set up, but I'm a sit down rider any way unless I'm going downhill. While sitting, I didn't notice it amy more difficult to pedal than anything else.

My only other problem now is I've ridden a Trek Rail and now I think I want an e-bike.
