So out of curiousity, I'm starting to looking into forks for the future. I really prefer coil, and I'm looking for options that are available.

EDIT: coil only offerings please, not a mix of coil and air. Updates included below:

Here's what I have so far (specifically single crown long travel):
  • MRP RIbbon Coil
  • Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Coil
  • Ohlins RXF 36 m2
  • Fox 36 and RS Lyrik with the Push ACS3 kit

Vorsprung has offerings for Fox 36, 38, Lyrik, Zeb, and DVO Onyx.

Avalanche is mentioned but no idea if they are pure coil or mix of air and coil retrofits.

Formula Selva?

What is nice there is that you can convert from Selva S (solo air) to Selva R (dual air) to Selva C (coil) and back.

On the S vs R this is just swapping out the air side piston and either can go to C via something similar.

The Selva damper cartridge and air spring can go in either leg of the fork so for example if I wanted to flop my Selva from the C (current setup) to S or R I would just put the damper on the left leg and put the air spring stuff where the damper used to be.

I have seen mention that Ohlins springs fit in the Selva so that also gives some additional tuning options there for the spring rate.

Selva isn't 38mm though, 36mm IIRC but plenty stiff, about the same as the RFX and stiffer than a Fox 36 in my riding experience.

The CTS thing can complicate Formula forks a little bit. I ended up with blue CTS module Selva S and alternated no Neopos installed with a half of a Neopos (didn't feel like I needed the fork to ramp up much beyond what it can do as an air spring) and silver/desert with the Selva C.

I looked at my notes and I was using the blue CTS on the Selva R as well and splitting time between that (blue), gold, and green modules.

I don't normally use tokens or feel like I have issues with forks needing lots of ramp up at the end of stroke by YMMV depending on preferences, what you like to ride, etc.

Selva is a phenomenal fork and the coil variety is pretty hard to beat in my book since you have lots of platform flexibility there and they are easy to service as far as forks go.

Universal Cycles and Alba Distributing in BC carry lots of Formula parts.

At your size I doubt you need a 38 fork. I have a lyrik with the Push coil and an Avalanche cartridge damper on my Riot. I like this fork a lot.
I’m not talking about for my Nimble 9. I may or may not do this. Haven’t decided, but I’m always curious to what coil options are out there, no matter what.

I think it's a good fork for the balance as well.
I’m not sure what I’ll do. I’m looking for a fork to be a backup for my Balance, but i also want to see what other options are out there. The Nimble 9 doesn’t necessarily need a backup fork.

My biggest thing: needs to be coil. Something that’s a 38 might be good for the Balance for summer since I’ll use it as a backup to the Jedi for lift stuff.

If you don't care about weight the Smashpot has a nicer feel at bottom out than the PUSH.
