2020/2021 RS SID - Can you change a 120mm to a 100mm?

I'm looking to put a SID (or maybe Reba, depends what eBay provides) on my xc bike. The 120mm SID has too long an axle to crown, so I should get a 100mm. If I get a 120mm, and can change a spacer or something cheap/free, I could run it as a 100mm for now and then know I can extend to 120mm if I replace the frame in the next season.

I've ran fox forks for 15 years, so am not up to date on RS. Can the 32mm SIDs (or Reba's) be covered 120 to 100? (what about 100 to 120?).

I've googled, but can't get an answer.

I have not owned a Sid, normally all you have to do is replace the 120mm airspring with the correct 100mm airspring. The airsprings are sold as a complete separate part.

Thanks. That's for a 120 to 100mm swap?

I'm so out of date on these things, as there was a time you just removed a spacer etc.

Thanks.
Yep you just swap the airspring.

Here is the service manual for the 2020 Sid. It's a great resource and shows you how it's done.

https://servicearchive.sram.com/sites/default/files/techdocs/gen.0000000005978_rev_a_2020_sid.pdf

On page 19 it goes over the airspring service and addresses travel adjustment.

If you have a few skills and tools you can do it yourself.

Thank you. That's great. I'm not on the hunt for a 120mm SID/Reba from 2020-2021, and a 100mm air spring. eBay time.

Thanks.

As you are in the USA, one of the best places to find new and used mtb parts is the Pinkbike Forums.

Go to Pink Pike and set up an account (Register New user) and login

Go to the BuySell forum.

Make sure you read the buysell tips!

Find your Fork...
Go to Suspension > Single Crown Forks

Search for SID (I just checked there were 50 for sale in the USA) Some are new, some are used. Make sure the steerer tube (if cut) is long enough for your bike.

Make sure you do all communication through the PinkBike Message service and not via email. ONLY use PAYPAL goods and services to send money. NO exception. Do not use PayPal friends and family or any other method too send the money. PAYPAL goods and services gives you full buyer/seller protection.

If you buy a SID with the wrong airspring length you might be able to find the correct one for sale here...
Suspension > Fork Parts / Springs

Cheers

Dan
