2018 Specialized Riprock comp air shock upgrade?

guessing its a boost front but QR. Does it not come with an air fork as standard? suntour do the XCT plus that is an air fork.

Yes it does come with one and it is QR. The one on the bike needs maintenance according to previous owner and my son weights 92lbs, so I would rather buy a new one.

service it - will more than likely just be grease with no oil. You won't get anything better that will fit the hub.

Is there anything that I can upgrade to that's better and can accommodate a 26" tire?

issue would be A2C length. Honestly the bike is ok but not really worth the whole upgrade path on it.

You definitely want a lighter air sprung fork for a bike that size.. The best 24" fork I know of is the Manitou Machete JUNIT, but it may be out of your price range. Some other options are Prevelo Heir, Trailcraft, and Spawn, but also spendy. RST is a little cheaper but too bouncy to be considered good IMO. There's nothing preventing you from using a 26" fork either. Just dial it in for the rider. If it were me I'd be looking for a used Rockshox Reba 26.
