Greetings all - looking at a lightly used Remedy 7 in their 17.5 virtual size. Minor cosmetic scratches here & there, but components look good and the bike's being sold through a shop/consignment deal where the shop's giving it a solid checkout before sale. Their price is $1500 which seems OK to me based on the R7 being $2600-ish new and I prefer saving the $ vs. new for getting settled into the sport before I consider any upgrades (and I'll likely ride it as-is for 6+ months before considering anything). Bike weighed 32 lb on their scale w/no pedals, which seems fine to me.

Does the sizing seem reasonable, and would you consider this a decent deal for my first all-mountain bike? My other bike is a Kawi KX100 for woods riding, and after riding the R7 in public parks this seems like a reasonable way to get my dirt bike giggles (without the audacity of my usual fantasy of riding the KX in those areas) plus gives me an alternative to exercise/cardio a bit more (than wrangling a 155 lb 20WHP mini-moto through Tillamook Forest on weekends.)

Thanks for any tips, advice, ideas.

I think you can find a brand new old model one for maybe a couple hundred bucks more.
I ride the same size/bike and I am 5'8" with a 50mm stem and 730mm bar

Thanks for confirming the sizing, which is the most important thing to me. If I'm able to shave off a few hundred for cosmetics and light wear, I'm fine with that.

But if you're talking a new Remedy 7 for $1700, please let me know where I could find that kind of deal. All the used ads I saw were in the $1500 - $1700 range plus shipping (and this one's local for me).

More pics on the condition of the bike / welcome any concerns or things to check out. The shop hadn't cleaned the bike yet, as they just got it in the day I was there. They're re-adjusting the brakes since the front wheel seemed to drag a bit, and if the bearings are bad those are going to be replaced by the shop/owner. Thanks for any other ideas to check on the bike - wheels seemed round, gearchanges were crisp, no nasty creaks/noises/cracks that I could see/feel/hear on the test ride.

If the guys at the shop will give the thumbs up on its condition, should be a pretty good deal. See if there would be any way to get the frame warranty from the original owner... Doubtful but worth asking.

Re: 2011 Trek Remedy 7 (17.5" virtual / 16.5" actual) for 5'9" 170lb guy

I'm 5'9" and I ride 18.5" 2011 R9.
If you do buy it tell the shop to order you a Scratch downtube protector.
