Hi,
On my 2011 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp the rear derailleur hanger got bent and caused the derailleur to get stuck in the rear wheel. We had to try to bend it back on the trail which worked temporary until it got stuck again. Had to walk the rest of the way. One of the pulleys broke off and we probably bent the cage when trying to grab it and bend back the hanger.
At first I thought the whole derailleur(and hanger) would need replacing but someone told me that possibly just the cage would need to be replaced.
I am taking the bike to a trusted bike shop but only ever had to get wheels straightened at a shop. Not sure what to expect. I don't want to spend a whole lot on the bike but don't want poor quality either(not sure how good the stock X9 derailleur is though). I see SRAM still makes the X9 derailleur at 120 dollars and it's not their cheapest. Not sure if it is comparable to the 2011 version.

Just looking for some guidance. Wondering if it's possible to just replace the hanger and cage rather than whole derailleur, or if that's possible.

PS. Before this happened the derailleur seemed to search for gears when in lower gears and when shifting into first gear it would get the chain stuck between the cassette and spokes. I think the hanger had already been bent a little bit and got bent more on the last ride when it got stuck in the wheel.

X9 RD has been supplanted by the GX 10 speed RD. List price is $66. Get the LBS to install a new GX for you. They might charge $25-$35 to install it. They'll likely recommend a new shift cable/housing too, which is often a good idea.
