If anyone has been checking out Devinci's new Split Pivot line-up for 2011 its worth a look. Got one assembled and the Dixon is a pretty sweet frame. Bike built up was 29 pounds with a 36 Float RLC. Should be a great AM ripper.

Trek has ABP, DW has SP. Trek got around the existing patent pending by moving the location of the chain-stay opposite of what DW came up with years ago. Pretty rinky dink on the part of Trek.

If that was the case then, DW wouldn't have the chainstay on different sides of the seatstay for different frames, i.e. Wilson and Dixon. Trek moved it for several reasons, none of which have anything to do with the Split Pivot patent. It has more to do with the new thru axle standards than anything, according to my sources.

That's funny, because the original rumor was Weagle showed his design to Trek. They passed and poof, APB was born. A little different from Split pivot and no royalties to Weagle.

I know nothing about patents or any of the above. I do know that, without the Devinci stickers, I would've taken that bike on first glance for a Trek Remedy.

Do you really think that Dave Weagle - the king of all things patents - would show any of his designs to anyone else for risk of having it copied?
I think that rumour is ridiculous, though it works for those looking for the david vs. goliath story. Give DW a bit more credit than that.

Although that ABP Remedy was developed late 2006, how long before that had Trek come up with the idea? 2003? 2004?

The fact that both patents were awarded would suggest that both companies are credited with coming up with a similar idea around the same time - aside from that, it's just speculation.

Back to the original post, it does look pretty cool, if a little norco-ish.
I prefer the lines of the Morewood split pivot bikes.
What is the quality meant to be like on these Devincis?

looks like suspension designs are getting to the pinnacle , going to see lots of spin-offs of other designs in the future for sure. I think gearbox designs are next in the evolutionary chain for mountain bikes. I have ridden ABP and the new split pivot designs and they feel very similar. I am very stoked to try out the new Wilson. The Dixon feels super plush. I cant wait to see a long term ride report down the line.

What is the Canadian pricing like on these? I don't see it on their website. What's the price range like on the three models available?

the three split pivot models are all available in the USA now. You can find pricing on google, or in their dealer section just find your area and a dealer. Our site has pricing also.
