I am thinking using the 08 S-Works Stumpy as a race bike for next year. Anyone care to talk me out of it?

I currently own an Epic Marathon carbon and an 07 Stumpjumper Pro. I like the weight and power transfer of the EPIC, but I prefer the slacker head angle and versatility of the stumpy.

Will I find the trail tuned brain too soft?

Full firm is not exactly soft. So I don't think you will find it too soft.
