Inside bike rack for my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have some more pictures on the same flickr.com account.

Holds two bikes side by side and still has room for a third person to sit in the back seat. If I can figure out a way to angle the fork mounts, I could easily fit more bikes. The nice thing is that it takes about 30 seconds to take out the bar, put the Yakima pod covers back on, and put the floor cover back on. I will also probably mount a u-bolt for some theft protection.

I don't think that will work with older JGC's. In older grand cherokees, I found it is easy to take both wheels off, turn the bike upside down, wedge the seat between the spare tire and back seat, then put the wheels next to the frame. Two bikes fit in the back without seats down. You can maybe stick a third in there with wheels placed on one of the seats.

Funny thing is we also have an MK5 VW Rabbit or Golf and a bike fits in the thing perfectly with no wheels off, thanks to the front passenger seat folding forwards. Except only the driver will fit. The big old Jeep can't even do this. Although the Jeep does fit an 8' longboard inside and you can run over rocks and stuff...

I hate to resurrect such an old post, but any way you can give some details on the parts you used to set this up? I've been looking for a similar setup for my '06 Grand Cherokee and yours is by far the best looking option :)

I see that Yakima Landing Pads, but I'm really curious about the crossbar and fork mount.

Thanks
