Ok, I'm down to just two...

I can get the Jamis, stock for about $1700 even... maybe a hair less. I can get the Anthem for $1485 stock or $1600 with a front and rear derailleur upgrade to Deore LX front and XT rear and some egg beater pedals.

They spec out with the same bars, stem, seat post and brakes (Easton EA30). As said above, the dealer will upgrade the derailleurs for me and throw in pedals on the Giant. Now the Giant seems very on par with the Jamis.

I like the 100mm of travel on the Jamis a bit better and I believe the the Mavic XM117 rims are better than the WTB LaserDisc XC (any opinions?).

I doubt I can go wrong with either purchase for moderate XC riding, just looking for some input or opinions.

Anthem

I don't know to much about the Jamis but the Anthem is awesome.I just bought a 1 and like it a lot.The Rp2 shock with the new rear pedals great no bob .If you can swing it the 1 has a fox fork and a bit better components than the 2 but you would be happy with either I think.

I'm leaning more towards the Giant now. I am having the the drivetrain upgraded before it ever leaves the shop. I would love the Anthem 1 but can't swing it from the price perspective. I can always upgrade parts. I just want to make sure I get the right bike to upgrade rather than replace.

I should be placing an order Saturday. I'll keep you guys informed of which bike I go with.
