A guy I work with is getting rid of a 2006 X Cal frame for $100. It has the usual seatpost crack right above the top tube. He is the 2nd owner so he it can't be warrantied. Is this even worth picking up and having the post gusseted like the newer models?

Walk away, I've seen them after the crack splits the intersection wide open and it's not pretty.

If you browse around for deals you can pick up a brand new Access 29er frame for almost the same money.

I've never ridden one but I've also never seen anything but praise for them..
