So...I snapped the derailleur hangar on my '06 RMX last week. Does the '06 RMX take a different hangar than the previous years? I ordered replacements that are supposed to fit the RMX and they didn't fit.
Then, a buddy of mine gave me one of the hangars he used on his Switch, that didn't fit either. I'm going to email Rocky Mountain, but I figured I should ask here first.

Sorry not much help here other than to say I bought a spare hanger for my Switch and it was an RMX one (unknown year). It was very close, but didn't quite fit. I spent way too long in the woods trying to figure that out. Before finding out that I had the wrong one, I thought I bent my frame - Imadummy.

That's the one thing that kinda puts me off Rocky.
I like being able to contact a manufacturer directly.
I did not purchase from a shop originally, and my local dealer is a shop I don't care to deal with. But, looks like I don't have a choice.

Thanks for the info.

They're a fairly small company from a office staff point of view, when you consider that the extent of the World Wide Web could result in hundreds or thousands of inquiry emails per day (many of them likely asking for free decals), they won't have spare staff to handle that sort of info deluge. They're trying to keep the local dealers or distributors as the point of real contact between buyers and sellers. If you're serious enough about needing the information to phone or fax them, then they'd be happy to talk to you and help you out. When you consider how cheap most long distance phone rates are these days, it's still a cheap way to get information quickly.

Most other major bike manufacturers take the same approach. Try to find an email for Giant, Trek, or GT Bicycles on their website and you'll end up with contact info for their distributors (sometimes with an email address). Most other large manufacturers will just give you phone numbers and mailing addresses.

I see your point.
And I know I'd be frustrated having to deal with 100 sticker requests a day.

I still love my RMX...one of the best rigs I've ever owned, in construction, in finish and in performance.

Looks like I'm going to have to

Kav, don't be afraid to call them, they're very friendly/helpful and definatly have no "god-attitude" you typically run across.
That's good to know.
Going to order 2, its frustrating not being able to ride that bike because of one little piece.

not sure if you checked my last entry in the thread i started about being torn between a rmx and switch. long story short, i got the rmx, and it is incredible:thumbsup: unfortunately, i too have managed to break my derailleur hanger, and i also bought a replacement that i thought would fit, but it didn't:madman: did you call rocky directly for a replacement, and were you successful?

I have a blackspire on my bike - works good so far. Who knows what the average life expectancy of a hanger is? I've had them last a year and have had them last a week. It does 'seem' stronger than the regular one, but that's just going on appearances.

I contacted Rocky Mountain. Which is what I should have done in the first place.
The hangers for the RMX are year specific - most of the aftermarket companies seem to have the 2005 hangers, not the 2006, which is what I needed.
Fortunately, I found a local shop that ordered them for me.

Update for those who are interested:

I got the hangers from my local shop today - they don't fit.
Don't know who screwed up, but I'm starting to get real frustrated about this.
I'm going to try Blackspire, see what they can tell me.
