Hello everybody! I have a very specific question for all you Stumpjumper FSR users.
I Have a 2005 Stumpy S-Work (with the Septune) but today I went to my LBS and the owner told be if I wanted to sell my frame and buy a new 2006 Stumpy S-Work (M5 one, not the carbon) frame.
My question is, any one tested/used the two models and if so, if you find that the 2006 model with the brain fade, much better than de 2005 model and is wroth spending the extra money?
I like very much the 2005 model, but the brain…..looks sweet!!!

Thanks in advance!

2006 sworks stumpy

Hi, I have the M5 2006 S-Works Stumpy (not carbon) and let me say that the brain makes the bike. I came from an 05 s-works epic, which I loved, but my complaint was that it felt skechy at high speeds and I wanted some extra travel. The Stumpy with the brain on firm climbs very similar to the way the epic did, but when you desend the Stumpy is plush using all of the travel soaking up the bumps.
I waited for the 06 Stumpy when I heard it was going to have the brain.

2006 Pro FSR Vs 2005 S Works FSR

Just wait, all the 07' stumpys are all going to be M5! Sell your S-Works and get the new Stumpy!
I was going to buy a 05 S Works FSR and I just brought home the 06 FSR Pro with the Remote Brain here are the weight differences 75 grams for the one M5 Down tube

so here are the real weight !!!

2005 S works FSR large with Septune shock w/o seat collar 2484 grams

septune shock 242 g & mounting hardware 30 grams = 272 grams

Frame without shock 2212 grams

2006 Pro FSR large with Remote Brain shock w/o seat collar 2845 grams

Remote Brain shock 512 grams & mounting hardware 31 grams = 543 Grams

Frame without shock 2302 grams

Total weight Differanve is 80 grams for the one M 5 Down tube and my Pro has v brake & brain tabs so maybe 5-10 grams so for all practical purposes it 75 grams ~ 3 oz difference and $1000.00 2006 Sworks $2200 and I just paid $ 1200 for the Pro Model! The frame is a great weight for 4 3/4" 120mm of travel right at 5 1/2 lbs with a lighter rp23 @ 205 grams ! Now to see how the brain fade rides and matches up with the 2007 Talas X that I have on order. I'm such a weight weenie it really is bothering me about the 75 grams !!

Hello and thank for you help. I have several constrains regarding the two last posts.
1-I am waiting to see the 2007 models, but if I wait to long to sell my frame it would be more difficult and probably I can’t sell it.
2-Where I live (Portugal) the only frames that are sold are the Stump FSR S-Work, M5 and Carbon. So I could never buy the M4 version with the brain.
3-If the difference between having the Septune and the Brain is not that much, I will not sell the 2005 frame because even if I sell the frame for a good price I’ll have to pay almost 1000€ for that upgrade. :(

Best regards.
