The Nixon comp is basically the same as the Elite, but w/o the travel adjust. The comp is an OEM fork, so there are slightly different versions. I've seen some with aluminum steerers and some with steel.

The Elite is an awesome fork. So I would totally get a Comp for a trail bike. I've been thinking about that myself. There's only about a 4oz. difference between the aluminum and steel versions. You can email Manitou and see if the Rapid Travel II system from a Sherman would fit in the left leg. That way you would have a travel option for the long steep climbs. I think the system costs about 70 bucks aftermarket. Not that it's really that necessary, just an option.
