I am going to upgrade the XTR V-Brakes on my 2003 S-Works Epic to discs of some sort (most likely mechanical as I don't want the hassle of hydraulics).

I was looking at Shimano's centerlock XT and XTR wheels, having some Chris Kings laced onto Mavic UST rims, or just buying disc-compatible Crossmax wheels like I already have.

My questions are:

1. I am not sure what size rotors I need!

2. Can I buy the Shimano centerlock rotors and wheels but use them with Avid mechanical brakes?

If someone (knowledgeable) could tell me what setup would work for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

1. Any size rotor will work. Just make sure you get the correct adapter.

I picked up some of the new XTR M975 wheels, the fancy scandium UST compatible ones and a new set of XT Rdual control levers with XTR calipers, discs, and brake lines.

I can't wait to upgrade my trusty 03 S-works as I wait for the '09 frameset to be released, then I will swap all the new parts over to it!
