i just got a 2002 used stinky, and i was wondering about the differences. in my opinion, which is limited, it looks more like the new coiler. am i wrong? and it has mostly stock parts on it. cept i got nice shimano mx-pd30 pedals. what do you guys think needs upgrading?

if its a stinky 5 then yeah its pretty much the smae thing as a coiler. the 2004 is gonna be a lot beefier, and has more travel.

The biggest difference, in my opinion, between the '02 and '04 is the extra inch of travel. There has also been a change in geometry as well. The '02 has more trail oriented geometry and the newer models have slacker headtube angles and shorter top tubes. I prefer the older version and that's why I bought a Coiler DeeLux frame and built it up with the parts from my Stinky Five. The geometry on the Coiler has been updated a bit from the older Stinkys as well. The '02 version will make a great trail/FR bike with the right parts. Good Luck.
