1996 Specialized Ground Control A1 Comp???

Please clear my confusion. Is this bike the 1996 Specialized Ground Control A1 Comp, or the base model 1996 Specialized Ground Control?
It has AIM on the rear chainstays, what does this mean?
The rear triangle tubes are different front the front triangle.
The front triangle is Prestige tubing, a decal reads "handmade in Taiwan".
Here are some pictures:

Thanks in advance,
Uni

That is the base model. The A1 Comp has that on the top tube. A1 stands for the aluminium used in the frame.
Forgot to mention, I have an A1 Comp Ground Control from 1996 they were red and yellow. I also have the steel regular ground control frame in my garage.

Thanks, do you know what the "AIM" on the chainstays mean?
This is a pretty good base model with a handmade frame.
AIM stands for Active Independant Mechanism

Thanks.
I traded for a A1 comp. But i dont know a lot about it yet. Its red and yellow. It must be a pre-98 cause thats when they seem to have changed the frame. Its aluminum. It has a white Manitou Mars front fork. I usually ride road bikes so Im not that good at shocks yet. Its nice to have a forum like this so I can get some input on my bike.
