Hi guys I'm gonna build a 5010 v4. My local store has a fox performance 36 160mm coming from a mega tower. He told me that he can modify the fork to make it a 140mm excursion. After that mod will the fork working as good as a 140mm native?

Yes. Only difference between a 160mm and 140mm is the air shaft. Unless it's a pre-2017 model then they are exactly the same you adjust travel by changing the length of the transfer rod.

Are you building a mullet? The megatower is a 29er. If you're planning on running a mullet the axle to crown height will be off at 140mm.

I reduced a 160mm 36 down to 140 for my singlespeed. It's a $40 part and 15 mins of work.
