Gonna have to put the 28t on my bike and try it this season sometime sooner than a week after the challenge ends, unlike last year. 😄
Are you dropping down from a 32t chainring? If so that will really help out. I went to a 28t from a 32t on my 1x11 and that change got me up Dogmeat the last two years. I had planned riding with Ian today up Dogmeat but he is under the weather. I even set up the Salsa for Dogmeat yesterday with a huge 25t cog just to play around out there. It's set up 27x25 ... easy peasy and up the steeps you go!Gonna have to put the 28t on my bike and try it this season sometime sooner than a week after the challenge ends, unlike last year. 😄
Yeah, 32 to 28. Last year I tried it on my old Trek 930, because it was light and had a very low gear with the 3x, but it decided it hated shifting, which made it a lot harder. This year I'll be doing it on my DragonSlayer, which is heavier, but with the 28 the gearing will be similar, it's derailleur actually shifts, it has tons of grip, and, most importantly, I sold the Trek. Are you dropping down from a 32t chainring? Define 'better or worse'. If you are talking about up upper Limekiln (those power poles), it's quite a bit harder from a steepness/pitch perspective but it's shorter. No dabbing Limekiln isn't really an issue where no dabbing upper Priest Rock (Dogmeat) is tough. If you mean El Sombroso from the top of Kennedy, that has some burly pitches but they are short compared to Dogmeat. Sombroso from the Umunhum side, I don't really remember but I am positive it's not in the same league as Dogmeat. As an LG man I will have to try this. Is it better or worse than the power poles climb up to el sombroso?
To put some numbers on this, I've gone up upper Limekiln (power poles) many times and I can only remember dabbing once when I got distracted and spun out on some gravel. On the other hand I've attempted Dogmeat about ten times and was successful twice. Upper limekiln has some sustained parts that are around 20% grade but almost nothing more severe. The hardest parts of Dogmeat are close to 30% grade. The best riders can clean it reliably but I have to get a bit lucky. As an LG man I will have to try this. Is it better or worse than the power poles climb up to el sombroso?
Is the uninterrupted series of successful in a row attempts still intact? Number 6 in a row next attempt? Squashyo has a few in a row going on also me thinks? Sorry to bring it up but you know how I am!Nice work and impressive it felt easier for you. I think the working out has made a difference for sure. I will be giving this a go soon like always.
I am going to try an surpass my last season and see if I can get more. I am going tomorrow morning and may try 2 in a row. Easy to type it and say I will do it, another thing to give it a go for real.Is the uninterrupted series of successful in a row attempts still intact? Number 6 in a row next attempt? Ok, now you are just showing off. LolSorry but I am a gluten for punishment and did it 3 more times back to back today. The third time was a bit dicey and I actually tacked sideways at one point. I saw at least 2 others on their way up, hope they made it. View attachment 1955767
