damn rain

I was there, riding but not racing. I paid for the lift ticket and got to do one ride... did you guys have to climb when it started raining or did you just camp out and wait till they opened the lifts again?

Did the race on Sat., WHAT A BLAST! I could go on forever about how great the trails were due to rain the previous day, but my buddy already did- check out fatlarry.com. Any one else race it?

Oh wow did you blow it!

It rained until about 12:30 and then the lifts started back up. When they did, the conditions were unbelieveable--the traction was like nothing i've ever had up there. It was probably the best day at Big Bear I've ever had, and everyone I saw up there felt the same.

Bummer you went home early bro.

I raced spt/beginner for Team H&S and with a recount till 11pm in the Team Big Bear trailor,we found our missing lap and placed 3rd. Our Pro/Expert team with Rich Houseman took a 1st place finish for a threepeat. We also had a junior team that took a 1st and a 12 and 15 year old sister/brother team that raced extreme and finished 51 laps and placed 4th.
I thought once the rain started the day was done but once the sun poked out of the clouds around 1:20 I thought hellz yeah, its on. The traction was the best it had ever been up there despite the few spots of standing water. Cant wait till next year.

Team H&S out of Burbank,CA

Dirtfocus.com is up and has loooooooooots of good photos

Yeah, we were the other team who got swindled. We got 1st but were given 4th. After the recount, we got 2nd. They had our cards with 51 punches in them, but they could only give us 50. Whatever, that was one of the best times I've ever had at a race.

that race was so much fun!

this was the first time i've raced the 12 hrs DH. we late registered friday night and slept in the parking lot. we didn't have an ez up like everyone else. but luckily we found a nice spot unter the ski lift to stay dry during the down pour.

we had a team of 3 in the beg/sport class. we only placed 8th, but it was a lot of fun. i've never ridden in big bear after a rain. i was always use to the dry loose stuff. traction was amazing! thank god for armor. i must have crashed at least 10 times and hit a couple trees.

the best thing for me was learning to jump. early in the morning i wasn't clearing the table top at the end. by the end of the day i was clearing it with no problem. such a good feeling to hear cheers. :D

for the dude that went home early. sorry. that was a great day of riding.

CACA!!! I wish we would have waited just a little longer... oh well. We ended up going offroading across the way which was a new and fun experience. I got a chance to meet one of the H&S guys on the lift, it was the 3rd guy on the right above the dude with the beanie... nice guy. I will definately visit their shop if i am in the area.
