Hello everyone so recently I upgraded my 11-40 to 11-42 and a new 9 speed chain, hanger and replace chainring with same one I had b4.
Currently running a 1X setup. The problem I am having is the my jockey wheel is rubbing on the the largest cog. I have a long B tension screw which I have adjusted it to the point where it will slip of hanger if I kept tightening. My next move was to get a goat link. Not only did it not change anything but now there is a offset on derailleur. Any help to resolve this issue is much appreciated. Derailleur is a xt deore 9 speed.

Is that a nine speed cassette? To be honest I didn't know anyone was doing that range in nine speed. From a blurry memory my old XT derailleur would have been on something like 11-36t.
Probably no clutch on that derailleur either?

Maybe I am talking out if turn, but Goatlink appears to be 10spd, and may not be a good fix for 9spd.

What model?

Goat links are a replacement part for the b-link or bracket axle unit, it's only made to be used with with derailleurs that have this part and you need to remove it before you attach the goat link.

Road links are made for conventional type derailleurs.
You could attach a road link to the following derailleur but you can't attach a goat link to it.
