Just got my outlaws today and noticed how much more beefie the 12mm ta is compared to the 10mm qr. I was thinking it wouldn't be too hard to bore out the frame 1mm on each side of the dropout to allow the 12 to fit in there. I would assume that would void the frame warranty, but besides for that, does anyone see any problems with that?

between a 12mm and 9mm qr your gonna feel a big diffference,but between a 12mm and 10mm bolt through there aint that much difference so i would suggest fitting a 10mm axle.

azonic do such a axle called a step down to convert your 12mm down to 10.

Don't F'up your frame, the 10mm TA is plenty strong and stiff. It's what your frame was designed to use.

i checked pricepoint and found azonic made 2 axles...both were 12mm but looked like they stepped down to a smaller size near each end....i didnt see "step down axle" anywhere in the description, but it does go from 12mm down to 3/8" near the ends...would this be the step down axle that your talking about?

Depends on your frame. If you are adventurous and have a lot of room around the hole, without any welds or cutouts, you can safely drill it. Will this void the warranty? Probably not, but maybe. Most frame manufacturers will still honor their warranty as long as the failure has nothing to do with your modification. Key word is "Most", you have to decide if it's worth it.

Probably best to get a different axle.

Don't drill your frame. Don't even think about it.



Yes, that 12mm to 3/8 is the 10mm step down. I run the same think on my outlaws and it works great.

Yeah lets not drill holes in our frames. Whoops, I can't attest to that one, I drilled the DHR.

Instead of drilling the frame, you can file 2 sides of the axle, make it 10mm.
I'm using 135*12 ringle rear hub, that's what I did to make it fit into my demo 8.
