Here in the Valley of the Sun we are blessed with an abundance of trails. If you mix that with our abundance of pathways and bike lanes you have a mix conducive to long rides. I admit summer can be tough for rides like this but this time of year makes up for it all and we take full advantage of it.

Cool looking ride.

Soooo..... we need some details. I assume you rode right from your front door, but where can we see your route, get details about the ride etc?

I've also got a 100 mile route mapped out that I can do from my door which includes 60 miles of singletrack and very little pavement. I've been wanting to do it for awhile but just haven't yet. I'd love to hear more about you ride.

Nice setup. I looked into getting the Carousel or Epic bags setup on my Niner SIR but the price put me off. I'd really like to get into the bikepacking. I'm planning now on trying to sew up my own custom bags.

Downloading the route is going to take a bit of time so here is an overview. 101 miles, 6K feet of climbing. Route is out of central Phoenix, thru Phx Mtn Preserves, pathway north along SR51 to Reach 11, to another path to the McDowells, up to Tom's Thumb, down 128th st to Rio Verde, West to Pima and Dynamite, ride that north to the turn off to Lake Bartlett. At this point I was going to head to Horseshoe Reservoir but there were too many yahoos headed in that direction so I hit the road through Carefree and Cave Creek and headed to Spur Cross and eventaully made my way into the Tonto National Forest where I camped. In the morning I hit mostly road to get home quickly but hit Reach 11 and the Phx Preserves again on my way home. There are tons of options like this out here.

I miss the scenery. Its been 14 going on 15 years since I lived in Peoria, off of Thunderbird. Used to ride along/in the salt river. Ride a couple hundred yards from my front door to Jump the wall @ the community pool and ride for hours. Also liked to buzz past the golf courses in sun city and head west into the desert. Used to love chasing the hares!

I would REALLY appreciate some New River photos and/or thunderbird park via bike if you get some time! Awesome trip by the way!
